Charlie Chaplin Costumes & Ideas

People of all ages will know who Charlie Chaplin is, and when you ask people what they remember most about him they will mainly say they remember him for his silent films. He was highly influenced by Max Linder who was one of the main French pioneers of the silent film genre.

Before the end of World War 1 he was known as one of the most famous people in the movie business for his outstanding roles in these unique silent films. Chaplin liked to use miming, slapstick and other various comedy routines to get his audience interested, sometimes Chaplin liked to conduct the music for his films as well, all of these points tell us why he is such a dedicated and talented man. His films were shown to soldiers all over the world and when they were of duty they would use halls and projectors to watch his most famous films. Through the 'Great Depression' and the rise of 'Adolf Hitler' Chaplin kept on going and managed to give thousands of people an escapism from the reality of war.

If you want to make an impression at your next fancy dress party, then consider a Charlie Chaplin costume and accessories.

In 1914 Chaplin was part of one of his most well known films, this was 'The Tramp' and this film was indeed huge to say the least, it told the story of 'the tramp' who was simply living an everyday life on street while trying to get a job. At the same time as this he is always trying to escape the authority of the law and escape characters who just won't take anymore of his 'trampish' antics. This film pretty much launched Chaplin's career and helped make him the iconic character he is today. I mean after this classic film we saw other classic films like 'The Great Dictator' 'Modern Times' 'The Gold Rush' and 'City Lights' which all helped enhance his already impressive career.

In 1957 Chaplin still showed off his impressive talent by directing, writing and producing the film 'A King in New York' and as well as this he continued to compose music for films, and well, he just generally kept busy. After his final film 'A Countess from Hong Kong' Chaplin's health started to deteriorate, and on Christmas Day in 1977 he died in his sleep. Chaplin still lives on today due to all the classic events of his life. This true movie star will never be forgotten.

The American Film Institute charted Chaplin as the 10th 'greatest male screen legend of all time' so I think this point alone proves why we should dress up as the legend that is Charlie Chaplin.
