Written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft 'Dad's Army' is a classic and unforgettable BBC TV series which ran from July 31st 1968 to November 13th 1977 the series ran for 9 series in total and also had a radio series/feature film and a stage show, and at times the show managed to get the attention of 18 million viewers. So what was Dad's Army all about? Well based in world war 2 it told the story of the Home Guard who were a group of volunteers who were inactive for service mainly down to their age, they were relied on to protect the UK in an event of an attack across the English Channel. The sitcom would mainly involve the group practising for an actual attack, or it would just involve their failure to do certain tasks. At times they did encounter minor German threats such as downed German planes, a U-boat, parachutes that may off been German, and German mines. Apart from this unique storyline the show was also known for famous quotes such as "You stupid boy!" "We're doomed!" and "I'll tell mum".
