One of the most noticeable films that include a similar figure is of course Donnie Darko. Can't remember this classic film? Well then let's just to take a moment to remind you on the plot. Directed by Richard Kelly and starring classic actors such as Jake Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Patrick Swayze Donnie Darko is a cult classic, although it only made ,1 million worldwide when it was released it still has a massive following and to this day you can find this film in pretty much every DVD store out there.

Based in 1988 this film tells the story of teenager Donnie Darko who has been visiting a psychiatrist due to his troubled past. On October 2nd a very scary looking rabbit with a hypnotic voice appears in Donnie's house and tells him that in 28 days the world will end. When Donnie is outside of his house a jet engine crash lands straight through his house. He awakes the next morning on a golf course and comes home to find confused policemen as no one actually knows just where this engine has come from! After this point we see the mysterious Rabbit encouraging Donnie to commit terrible crimes such as theft.

While Donnies Sister and Mum are away attending a dance competition Donnie attends a Halloween fancy dress party, Donnie then realizes that 28 days have now passed since he first saw the demonic looking rabbit. At the party Donnie and his new best friend Gretchen are assaulted by high school bullies, tragically as this is happening Gretchen gets run over by a car. With his dads stolen gun Donnie shoots the driver in the eye (who just so happens to be dressed up in a rabbit costume). Donnie takes Gretchen home, and at the same time a tornado forms over the city, just as the tornado is about to take down a plane (Which is in fact carrying Donnies Mum and Sister) Donnie transports the plane back in time using a wormhole. In the new timeline Donnie wakes up in his bed and dies as the jet engine crashes straight through his house killing him. His friend Gretchen now doesn't actually know him and simply rides by on her bike.

One of the biggest characters in this film is the Rabbit as it keeps together the plot in a very scary and mysterious way. The Rabid Rabbit costume can be bought from us today and you can be the mysterious one at your next party! So what are you waiting for!
