The Scream series is the sixth highest grossing horror franchise in the United States of all time, the simple and basic costume worn on the film has gone on to create a craze worldwide, and even though the first film of the franchise was released way back in 1996 Scream 4 has just come out this year and again proved to film viewers why this is such a great a powerful collection of horror films.

So let's talk a bit about each film to remind you why this is such a great costume to wear out to any Halloween party. Directed by Wes Craven (Nightmare on Elm Street) the first Scream told the story of teenager Sidney Prescott who is under the attack of a mysteriously dressed villain known as Ghostface at the same time of having to deal with the anniversary of her mum's death. The film was fresh to the horror world and with the memorable starting scene that includes the world famous actress Drew Barrymore the film will go on to remain a cult classic for years to come. At the same time we also saw the birth of other classic Scream characters such as the police Deputy Dewey and local news reporter Gale Weathers.

Again directed by Wes Craven Scream 2 came out in 1997 which was just a year after the original had hit our screens. The film again features Sidney Prescott and a group of friends who think they know how the typical sequel to a horror film works so they use this as a survival tactic against the returned Ghostface killer, sadly this tactic far from works, and many of Sidney's friends again fall victim to this horrible killer. In 2000 we saw the release of Scream 3, although this film was a lot less successful compared to the first two it still featured a lot of the classic characters (Gale Weathers and Dewey) from the first two films, in this film we see how and why the Ghostface killings started in the first place, and we find Sidney once again running for her life as the shocking killings continue.

Last but not least we have Scream 4 which was released over a decade after the first film in 2011! In this film we see Sidney releasing her new book which tells the story of how she survived all of the Ghostface killings, sadly her releasing this book it draws in a new killer to the town and as usual Sidney and the local cop Dewy find themselves discovering unusual twists and turns as the Scream plot continues!

Director Wes Craven has done a fantastic job in developing another famous horror character.
